Description
Ghazal No. 123 by Hafez (Read by Fatemeh Zandi)
The minstrel of love has a wonderful tune and melody
The image of every note he plays has a way to a place
May the world never be empty of the lament of lovers
For it has a pleasant and joyous air
Our old pain-bearer, though he has no gold or power
He has a gracious and forgiving God
Respect the door of my heart, for this sugar-loving fly
Since he became your admirer, he has the glory of a phoenix
It would not be far from justice if he asks about his condition
A king who has a beggar as a neighbor
I showed my bloody tears to the doctors, they said
It is the pain of love and it has a liver-burning remedy
Learn tyranny from the glance, for in the religion of love
Every deed has a reward and every action has a consequence
That idol said elegantly, that wine-loving boy
Drink the joy of someone’s face who has purity
Khusrav, Hafez, the courtier, recited the Fatiha
And from your tongue, he has the desire of a prayer
